 JULY-NOVEMBER : Nelson & Napoléon

The first exhibition (from 7 July – 13 November 2005) to explore together the lives of two dominant leaders and adversaries, Horatio Nelson and Napoleon Bonaparte, will open at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
Opening in on 7 July and closing on 13 November, the exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of Nelson's victory and death at the Battle of Trafalgar.





 13–15 July 2005 : Europe at War: the Trafalgar campaign in context

A three-day conference - jointly organized by the National Maritime Museum, the Institute of Historical Research and Greenwich University - which brings new research from a range of disciplinary perspectives to bear on one of the most significant naval actions in the age of sail.


 Oct 04-Feb 05: Portsmouth Cathedral Trafalgar Crocus Carpet

Portsmouth Cathedral will be planting a Trafalgar Crocus Carpet to bloom in February 2005 along the High Street side of the Cathedral in Old Portsmouth that is close to the route probably taken by Admiral Nelson on his way to join HMS Victory. Planting will commence on 21 October 2004 at 11am

 2005 all year round: Trafalgar Woods Project

Twenty seven new woods, one for every ship that fought at Trafalgar, will be planted over the year.
