The Fondation Napoléon is a registered charity committed to the encouragement of the study of
and interest in the history of the First and Second Empires and the preservation of Napoleonic heritage.

SUPPORT US

A registered charity (Reconnue d'utilité publique par décret du 12 novembre 1987), the Fondation Napoléon is funded by the generous bequest made by Martial Lapeyre and its missions are as follows :

  • To support both museums and individuals in the conservation of the architectural, artistic, musical, etc. heritage of the First and Second Empires.
  • To contribute to the inventory and conservation of the great archival collections, in collaboration with the archival institutions.
  • To encourage historical research both in France and abroad :

• 

by creating an internet site of documents and archival material napoleonica.org; with more than 3 000 documents digitised for its launch in Novemeber 2000, this site is already attracting other projects for 2001 and 2002,

• 

by awarding every year history Grands Prix and Research Grants,

• 

by supporting international history conferences and the publication of books or acts of conferences.
  • To facilitate access to the history of the First and Second Empires for all publics :

• 

by giving open access to the Bibliothèque M. Lapeyre, with its more than 5,000 volumes,

• 

publishing an general public internet site, napoleon.org, which aims to be the reference point for Napoleonic history, and which must constantly be updated.

You too can support the Fondation Napoléon in its aims and projects.
A registered charity (reconnue d'utilité publique), the Fondation Napoléon is able to receive donations and bequests.
