Notes:

Engraving published in L'Illustration. During the
Universal exhibition of 1867, the company charged with
building the Suez Canal, the 'Compagnie universelle du
canal maritime de Suez' presented models of the
building of the canal in a pavillion in the
Egyptian section. Ferdinand de Lesseps himself
gave a series of presentations explaining the project
