Ismailia.
The Palace of the Khedive.
The Khedive Ismail had a palace built for him in Ismailia. During
the opening ceremony for the canal, VIP guests stayed there. Five
thousand people were invited to a ball in the huge salons of the
palace on the evening of 18th November 1869. Built along the freshwater
canal, the palace subsequently became the property of the Company.
