Port Thewfik.
Avenue Hélène and the office of the Company.
Port Thewfik was built on a levee formed from the rubble excavated
during the terracing work for the sea canal. The avenue on which
the houses of the Company employees and construction workers,
as well as the offices of the principal shipping companies, were
built was named after Ferdinand de Lesseps second wife, Louise-Hélène
Autard de Bragard, whom he married a few days after the opening.
