Fountain of Moses.
View of the fountain.
Before the arrival of the freshwater canal in 1863, Suez got its
drinking water from the Moses fountain situated a few kilometres
away from the town. The name comes from the site quoted in the
Bible in the book of Exodus, chapter XV, verse 27, where there
is a reference to an important moment during the flight of the
Hebrews from Egypt in their attempt to reach the promised land
and return to Canaan, under the leadership of Moses.
