This book is an anthology containing fifteen essays which discuss Denmark's relations with France during the Napoleonic period. These essays cover such themes as Franco-Danish relations, French influence on Danish culture, military relations between France and Denmark, and attitudes towards Napoleon. The articles included range from analysis of security policy (Struwe), and Franco-Danish relations from the French Revolution to 1807 (Bourgois), to French impressions of Denmark, as described by French envoys posted to Copenhagen during the period (Fumex). There is also an article on Danish sailors serving in the French navy (Bjerg), as well as Danish impressions of Napoleon (Høffding), and the impact of French Empire art styles on Danish art (Gelfer-Jørgensen).
This book was short-listed for the 2009 Fondation Napoléon Grand Prix history prizes.
