The Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta (HRGM) is commemorating the 220th anniversary of the 2-year French Blockade of Malta that took place between 1798 & 1800.
The project is spread over a 2-month period with the climax taking place between 4 and 10 June 2018. The series of initiatives shall be held at different venues across the Malta and Gozo and shall include the participation of around 600 people of whom some 400 yielding from across the EU. The activities shall include theatre, dance, musical performances, lectures, an exhibition, a debate, and Malta’s biggest ever historical re-enactment.
The 2-month programme reaches its climax from 4-10 June 2018 with the re-enactment of the arrival of the French and the invasion of Malta that took place 220 years ago in June and will terminate with the French surrender in Gozo, which took place at the end of October of 1798.
All events are free of charge.
