Napoleon and Josephine in Modena

A day of historical re-enactment celebrating Napoleon and Josephine’s visit to Modena which took place on 25 June 1805, after Napoleon’s coronation as King of Italy in the same year in Milan. The event organised by cultural association “Les Grognards de l’Armée d’Italie” in collaboration with the City of Modena and Modenatur takes place between Piazza Roma and the Doge’s Palace, and is open for the occasion by reservation (before 26 October).

In the morning at 9.30 am and in the afternoon at 15.30, the royal carriage with Napoleon and Josephine will arrive in Rome square to kick off the animations in costume in the square in front of Palazzo Ducale, now the headquarters of the Military Academy of Modena.

The day commemorates that of 25 June 1805, when Napoleon and his wife, Josephine came to Modena after his coronation as King of Italy in the same year in Milan.
During the day there will be five guided tours of Palazzo Ducale. Along the way, you can attend performances of historical scenes of the time, in the presence of Napoleon and Josephine, the court and the imperial general staff officers.

Entrance fee and guided tour: 8 € per person.
