International Napoleonic Society Seventeenth International Napoleonic Congress

The One Hundred Days in One Hundred Hours

The International Napoleonic Society will hold its Seventeenth International Napoleonic Congress in Grenoble, France, 8-13 July 2019. Grenoble is a lovely city with a very strong connection to Napoleonic history. La Plateforme is a beautiful 19th-century heritage building in the center of Grenoble.

CALL FOR PAPERS: Deadline 1 May 2019 more details here

The official languages of the conference will be English and French, but the organisers strongly encourage papers to be in English as there will not be translators available and their journal only publishes articles in English.

CALL FOR PAPERS: The One Hundred Days in One Hundred Hours (17th international Congress of the INS)

Organisers anticipate that many papers will concentrate on the 100 Days and perhaps Grenoble’s native son, Stendhal. As always, other papers of interest and important new research will also be considered. Topics can include military, political, social and cultural aspects of the period.

Provisional programme: Monday and Tuesday, conference at La Plateforme, Wednesday conference at the university. Thursday morning visit Laffrey and then in Vizille the castle (Museum of the Revolution), with lunch in the city. Afternoon in Grenoble and in the evening the Gala Dinner at the Restaurant le Téléphérique. Friday visit Grenoble, the museum of Grenoble and the Stendhal museum. Saturday visit Lyon.
