Publishers Helion and Company are proud to announce the 2019 From Reason to Revolution Conference, generously sponsored by the Society for Army Historical Research and the British Commission for Military History, and hosted by Derby Museums Trust. This year’s conference will look at the experiences of the ordinary British soldier in the 18th century, covering the full range of experiences from enlistment, through service at home and on campaign, to life after the Army. Many of the speakers are published authors of works in the From Reason to Revolution series, or are working towards future titles.
Their papers cover the full chronological range of the series, from the campaigns of the 1740s and 1750s, through the political and social unrest of the late 18th century, to the Peninsular War and Waterloo. It is intended that the day will offer a stimulating and informative environment, facilitating further research and promoting interest in this often-overlooked era. Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day, a buffet lunch will be provided, and we will be launching new publications on the day with special introductory offers and other discounts.
