The Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Department of History begins its spring semester by holding the twelfth annual Joan Coffey Symposium featuring critically acclaimed historian Roger Knight on Tuesday, 26 January at 7 p.m. in Academic Building IV Olson Auditorium, Sam Houston State University.
Roger Knight’s career as a museum curator and historian has spanned more than forty years, comprising curatorial and research roles at the National Maritime Museum and subsequently at the Greenwich Maritime Institute, University of Greenwich. Since late 2014 he has been a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London.
Roger Knight is the author of Britain against Napoleon.
He has additionally prepared an essay that was written specifically for his lecture at Sam Houston State University, which will focus more on Imperial wars rather than local ones, about the Napoleonic wars and how involved were the general masses. He will also look to see how these wars created further issues in the 20th century.
The Symposium is free and open to the public.
