El Ferdane. Km. 65. A French liner in the passing station.
As a moving ship passed a stationary one, the ship in motion pulled
the one at rest towards it. Hence it was decided right at the
start that in order to avoid accidents, all ships at anchor in
passing places had to be tied to posts driven in the banks of
the canal - these posts were also useful for refloating vessels.
