Report to Napoleon

Dedicatory letter to Emperor Napoleon I, placed at the start of the report by Le Père (Divisional Inspector of Bridges and Roads), ‘Report on the linking of the Indian Ocean with the Mediterranean via the Red Sea and the Suez isthmus’. (Centre historique des Archives nationales, F17 1102) Le Père made an initial request on 11 December, 1811, to be allowed to include this dedicatory letter in the printed version of his report. Permission was granted on 27 April, 1813.
