The flotilla of princes only stopped in Ismailia for two days. The town is destined to become the port of call and of repair of the ships crossing the isthmus. And as soon as the Aigle dropped anchor at the bank, a great number of vessels did likewise, and Ismailia soon found itself full of the crowds which had been blocking up the streets of Alexandria and Port Said, earlier.

The Empress alighted the next day and went to El Guisr on horseback where she visited the work that had been completed and which Her Majesty was not able to see properly during the quick crossing of the canal trench. She then returned to Ismailia where she received the ladies of the town who had rushed to pay tribute to her.

The Austrian Emperor, the Prince of Prussia and the Prince of Holland accompanied by the Viceroy all then visited the main streets of Ismailia with Her Majesty, amidst considerable crowds of people. On 19th, the flotilla left for Suez.
