HISTORY GRANDS PRIX AND RESEARCH GRANTS AWARDS, 2003
The Grands Prix and Research Grants 2003 were awarded on 25 November, 2003, at a very pleasant lunch in the presence of HIH, the Princess Napoléon.

 
150 YEARS AGO
On 30 November, 1853, the Russian navy destroyed the Turkish fleet in the port of Sinope on the Black Sea, causing a general outcry in Britain and France.
 
In November 1853, the plan of the city of Lyons was drawn up by the architect Dardel, with this were included some town development projects.

 
200 YEARS AGO
With the France/US agreement for the the sale of Louisiana having been ratified by Congress on 20 October, 1803, on 30 November, the initial official ceremony for the transfer of the state (from Spain to France) was held in the "Sala Capitular" of the Cabildo building in New Orleans, with the Spanish representatives Governor Manuel de Salcedo and the Marquis de Casa Calvo, and the French representative, the Préfet, Pierre Clément de Laussat. Later, on 20 December 1803, Louisiana was officially handed over to the United States.
