Napoleon’s Exile, Napoleon’s Travels

Between 19 September and 19 October, the Centre Culturel de l'Ermitage in Rueil-Malmaison presents the exhibition, “Napoléon en exil, les voyages de Napoléon.”

The Emperor spent more of his life on the road than he did in any one place: he spent longer on Elba and Saint Helena than he did in Paris. His environment in exile retained the air of the bivouacs of his great military campaigns. But if Napoleon sought simplicity in the objects around him, he also wanted to retain some of his most precious objects. This exhibition permits the discovery of the Emperor's life in exile, through a selection of objects on loan from the Fondation Napoléon.
