Modern Heroism: Printmaking and the legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte

Free exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (UK)

To mark the 200th anniversary of Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, the Fitzwilliam Museum presents an exhibition of the lithograph prints that flourished in Post-Napoleonic France. This efficient new technique, which enabled the mass dissemination of art and political images, became the dominant medium of the period.

Highlights include Charlet's and Raffet's prints which celebrated Napoleon's heroism, and works by Delacroix and Gericault which explore the brutality of the period.

The exhibition takes place in the Charrington Print Room. See here to plan your visit.
