‘Le congrès de Vienne, l’invention d’une Europe nouvelle’ Exhibition at the musée Carnavalet

‘Le congrès de Vienne, l'invention d'une Europe nouvelle' (The Congress of Vienna and the creation of a new Europe) gives an insight into one of the major European events of the 19th century, the Congress of Vienna.

The exhibition presents material from the archives of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and captures the characteristically festive atmosphere of the Congress of Vienna. The original documents which paved the way for a new international order can be seen for the first time, including the Congress proceedings and the two treaties of Paris (1814 and 1815). A plate known as the 'Map of France' from the Emperor's Service particulier set, belonging to the Fondation Napoléon's collection, can also be admired.

The exhibition is curated in partnership with the Fondation Napoléon.
