The life of Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, talk by Major Colin Innes, Perth, Scotland

Major Colin Innes will give a lecture on the life of Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, at The Black Watch Castle and Museum in Perth, Scotland on 7th May at 7 pm.
 
The lecture will recount Wellington's great victory over Napoleon, but Major Innes will also speak about Wellesley's life from his birth through to his early military career, his success and later life.
 
Major Innes served in The Black Watch from 1957 to 1986 and then was Armed Services Recruiting Officer in Edinburgh from 1987 to 1996. He was educated at Wellington College in Berkshire, the public memorial to the Great Duke, and he attended the 150th anniversary of Waterloo in Belgium in 1965.
 
An amateur historian, he will seek to bring out the personality of the soldier and statesman.
The Black Watch Castle and Museum will host the first in a series of evening Waterloo lectures on Thursday May 7 at 7pm. To book a place at the talk contact 01738 638152.
