Waterloo and the March of Science will open at the Museum on 18 June 2015 and continue until 14 December; a programme of lectures and educational events will accompany the exhibition throughout the year.
Astronomer William Herschel visited Napoleon and the Empress Josephine in Paris during the fragile Peace of Amiens in 1801, and the exhibition examines the impact of the Napoleonic Wars at a local level and questions how science and technology responded to the culmination of nearly two decades of war with France.
