Napoleon’s Last Gamble: 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, and the Legacy of the Napoleonic Wars in Australia

This exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo (18 June 1815) and the final downfall of France's Emperor Napoleon.
The impact of the French Revolution, the rise to power of Napoleon and the conflict will be explored through the use of original uniforms, equipment, relics and images.
This fascinating historical display will cover the many years of conflict which ensued between Revolutionary and later Napoleonic France and the other great powers of England, Austria, Russia and Prussia.
As well as the pivotal Battle of Waterloo, the exhibition will explore the conflict from the 1790s through to the final “100 days” campaign of 1815.
The exhibition will also follow some of the veterans of this conflict who later served or settled in the Australian colonies, and explore many of the place names that dot the Australian landscape.
