Dancing into Battle: The Duchess of Richmond’s Ball
The Duchess of Richmond's Ball by Robert Hillingford

Arguably the most famous party in History, the Duchess of Richmond's Ball was attended by the Duke of Wellington and most of his officers, and was held in Brussels just days before the battle of Waterloo. It is the subject of a new exhibition at Goodwood house, the home of the Dukes of Richmond, in Sussex (UK).

The exhibition features trophies of war including Napoleon's Mahogany campaign chair and breakfast plate which were given to the Duke and Duchess, as well as the painting by Robert Hillingford.

To whet your appetite the exhibition can also be seen in online here.

Opening times are 1.00 – 5.00 pm  for all open days (last admission is 4pm). We can take groups on some Monday mornings but these must be booked far in advance via the Curators Assistant,  on +44 (0) 1243 755012 from Monday – Thursday.
