NAPOLEON.ORG Christmas break The team at napoleon.org are taking a Christmas break, and will be back with you in the new year. The next bulletin will arrive in your inboxes on 8 January, 2010. Until that date, feel free to take a wander through the website, where you will find plenty to keep you occupied over the next week or so. Carry on reading for a few ideas on where to start...
ANIMATIONS The coronation and masterpieces from the collection... As you will have seen from last week's edition, our Christmas present to you was the fantastic digital animation of the coronation ceremony of Napoleon I. As well as that short video, a Fondation Napoléon/Bath University production, we also have a fully-interactive animation, Masterpieces from the Fondation Napoléon Collection, available on the site, which takes you through the many beautiful items that feature in the Fondation Napoléon's collection.

NAPOLEONIC FILMOGRAPHY Napoleon on the big screen... With the Christmas season upon us, there is no better time to catch up on some of your favourite Napoleonic films. Napoléon Although not available in the definitive BBFC cut, this film can still be found if you look hard enough. Widely considered to be the greatest screen depiction of the French general, Abel Gance's majestic vision was never completed (this is simply part one) but remains a must-see for Napoleonphiles and cinephiles alike. Waterloo Worth seeing simply for the huge number of extras taking part in this historically accurate representation of the Battle of Waterloo. Although the individual performances leave a little to be desired, the re-enactment of the battle will live long in the memory.
Time Bandits Although not strictly a Napoleonic film, Time Bandits is one of Terry Gilliam's best films to date and features an appearance from Ian Holm as the French Emperor. The film is on Film4 (UK viewers) on Christmas Day, at 4.15pm. NAPOLEONIC DIVERSIONS Quizzes and jigsaws And what Christmas Day would be complete without some games? With napoleon.org, you can keep the Napoleonic theme running all the way through the afternoon with quizzes for all ages and jigsaws.
Strolls and walks And if you fancy some fresh air and are in one of the featured areas, why not have a wander around some of our Napoleonic itineraries?
