The walls of the grand staircase in the Ala Napoleonica have suffered a great deal of water damage. Salt formations in taht water have dissolved entire sections of the frescoes.
The Comité Français de Sauvegarde Venice (the French Save Venice Committee) has launched a project to restore the building, suported by the Napoleon Foundation.
