Horace-François-Bastien Sébastiani (1772-1851) was born in La Porta in Upper Corsica. He was Brigadier of the Brigade of the 9th Dragoons in 1799, Brigadier General in 1803 and Division General in 1805. He fought at Austerlitz, in the Peninsular War, and in the Russian, Saxe and French Campaigns. He was made a Count of the Empire in 1809, Navy Minister in 1830, Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1830 to 1832 and Maréchal de France in 1840.
