Kellermann fils

François Etienne Kellermann (1770-1835), son of the famous marshal Duc de Valmy, made on his own initiative the crucial charge which brought about the victory at Marengo. Qualified as merely “assez belle” by the First Consul, this charge was never to receive the historical recgnition which it deserved. He was made Division General on 5 July 1800. He left behind him a Réfutation de Mr le duc de Rovigo ou la vérité sur la bataille de Marengo (Refutation of the Duke of Rovigo, or the truth about the Battle of Marengo).
This work is part of the exhibition Marengo. Une victoire politique, which lasts until 28 August 2000 at the Museum of the Châteaux de Malmaison et
Bois-Préau.
