Maréchale Davout’s Ceremonial dress

As a consequence of its poor conservation conditions, the Maréchale Davout's ceremonial dress was very damaged and fragile.

Alerted by the Association des Amis du maréchal Davout, in 2009 the Fondation Napoléon sponsored a project to preserve this rare item. A first restoration was sufficient for the dress to be presented in Austria at the Napoleon. Feldherr, Kaiser und Genie exhibition, organised by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna

A second restoration was undertaken by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in 2010 in order to display the dress at the Napoleons Hochzeit  exhibition at the château de Schoenbrunn, which took place the same year.
