1875 saw the reinstallation of the statue of Napoleon on top of the Vendôme Column. The column had been dismantled and the statue of Napoleon toppled by the communards four years earlier in 1871 during the short period in which they were in control of Paris. Some photos taken on that occasion can be found in an album of 110 photographs devoted to the Siege of Paris by French photojournalist Bruno Braquehais.
