Napoleon as the "Little Corporal"

This small bust is after the collossal statue of Napoleon as 'Little corporal' commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior on 17 June 1831. The statue was cast by Crozatier from 16 cannons from Austerlitz discovered in the Arsenal in Metz: 3,349kg of bronze were required. Although this was the initial statue placed on top of the Vendome column, it was replaced in 1863 by a statue of “Napoleon Ist as a triumphal Roman emperor” by Dumont and moved to the Hôtel des Invalides.
