Pedestal occasional table in imitation of the "Table des Maréchaux"

Maréchaux Table. Circular, darkened wood occasional
table, with porcelain and gilt bronze. Adapted in
the style of the occasional table known as a
“Maréchaux” table. Surface decorated with a sheet of
porcelain with polychrome decoration. In the centre
there is a circular medallion representing the
Empereur Napoleon Ist in his coronation robes and
around the rim there are eighteen oval medallions,
nine showing portraits of the Maréchaux (Marshalls)
– Berthier, Brune, Davoust, Lannes, Massena, Murat,
Ney, Soult, Suchet – and nine other oval medallions
each showing a crowned imperial eagle. This ensemble
is decorated with bronze and brass inlaid with stars
and small eagles. Mounted on circular stand in darkened
wood set on a three-legged base, decorated with acanthus
leaves, flower garlands and gilt bronze inlaid leafage.

Sold for 85,000 FFr at the Drouot sale-rooms.
