In foreground: a jetty of the port, made up of
blocks of cement each ten cubic metres in volume.
Background: the Port Said lighthouse, built in
reinforced concrete. The use of these two materials
was unparalled in France and these two unprecedented
constructions are remarkable for being ground breaking in
the history of port construction.
