Statue of lieutenant Bonaparte in 1786

The statue, which sits in the Place Porte-Neuve, in Valence, was formally unveiled on Saturday 11 September, 2010, by the town's mayor alongside the association behind the project, Bonaparte à Valence. The statue had been installed two days previously.

Cast in bronze by J.-P. Ravit, the full-size statue represents a young Lieutenant Bonaparte reading a book. It has been erected in recognition of the time that he spent in the city during the early years of his career.
