The Bourse (Stock Exchange) in the 18th century, the rue Vivienne entrance

The Paris Bourse or stock exchange was housed in Palais Mazarin until 1793, when it became of no fixed abode, passing from the Louvre to the Palais Royal, then the deconsecrated église des Petits-pères before returning temporarily to the Palais Royal in 1807. It was not until 1808 that Napoleon decided to build the exchange a permanent home, the Palais Brongniart.
