Bergeret was one of the artists commissioned by Vivant Denon to illustrate the glorious deeds of the Napoleonic campaigns, from the bas-reilefs on the Vendôme column to those on the Colonne d'Allemagne (Musée de Versailles). After 1810, he executed a series of projects for the sculptures in the Corps Législatif recounting the campaigns in Italy and Prussia, projects which were finally abandoned.
