Edouard Moyse (1827-1908) was a Jewish painter from Nancy who specialised painting in scenes of Jewish life. This work here was first presented at the Salon of 1868. It shows the Great Sanhedrin called by Napoleon in February-March 1807 and presided over by the Rabbi, David Sintzheim.
