The January 2012 edition of the BBC History magazine (UK) features a controversial article on the most “overrated people in history”. The article includes contributions from well-known historians and writers such as Amanda Foreman (author of A World On Fire), Tracy Borman, Tom Holland, and Saul David. David's selection for the article is Napoleon Bonaparte. The deputy editor of the magazine, Robert Attar, admitted that the article was likely to stimulate lively debate, and commented, “No figure from history should be immune from criticism, so it's refreshing that our panel of historians have been prepared to take aim at some of the most cherished people of the past.”
