The remote island of St Helena, where Napoleon was famously exiled to after the Battle of Waterloo and lived out the rest of his years, is set to have an airport constructed. This news comes after many years of deliberation and stalling. The airport is planned to be constructed by 2015, in time for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, at which point it shall accommodate flights to and from South Africa. Officials believe the airport will raise the annual number of tourists who visit the island from the current average of 900 to around 30,000. Previously it has been only accessible by sea.
