The November 2009 issue of History Today (UK) features two articles that touch on Napoleonic subjects. Firstly, a look at Amsterdam's red light district reveals a system brought in by the Napoleonic Code of 1810 which required all registered prostitutes to undergo mandatory medical inspections. The women would then be given a red card (if they were healthy) or a white card (if they were infected) in a bid to regulate the profession.

The second article sees the historian Jeremy Black take a look at A. J. P. Taylor's account of the Crimean War. The full article is available online here for free (external link), although registration is required.
