Mark Herring, of Winthropp University, on behalf of the Institute of Historical Research, has spent the summer reviewing the various online libraries that are now available to the internet-using public. His reviews cover not only the various search engines and digital libraries on offer, but also the phenomenon (or lack thereof) of “digital texts”, the advent of mobile e-text readers (such as the Kindle and the Sony eBook Reader) and the way these new(ish) technologies are revolutionising the publishing industry.
Digital libraries reviewed:
Gutenberg-e
Humanities-e Books
Medieval Sources Online
Oxford Scholarship Online
