Regular visitors to napoleon.org and readers of the weekly newsletter will know that we have been following closely the debates raging over the teaching of history and the general interest shown for the subject in the UK. In this article, Lucy Worsley – historian and chief curator of Historic Royal Palaces – explains her mission to make history and the study of our heritage as popular as the X Factor. We here at the Fondation Napoléon are all in favour of opening up the history of the two empires to the widest possible audience, and any attempt to popularise the study of history – whilst of course maintaining rigorous academic standards – is to be applauded.
