On 5 November 2008 in the Stoudienka village cemetery (Borissov district), 108 soldiers and civilians of the Grande Armée who fell in Belarusian territory in 1812 and were found in the Borissov region were re-interred. A short and dignified ceremony took place in the presence of Madame Mireille Musso, French Ambassador to Belarus, as well as representatives of the Executive Committee for the Borissov district, the Belarusian Ministry of Defence and the Belarusian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Russian Orthodox and Catholic blessings accompanied the ceremony.
This event follows the re-interment in November 2007 of 223 soldiers of the Grande Armée whose remains were found by the 52nd research battalion of the Ministry of Defence near to the village of Selichtchi (Vilieïka district). The remains were laid to rest in the Stoudienka village cemetery.
On Sunday 23 November 2008, a ceremony commemorating the 196th anniversary of the Grande Armée's crossing of the Berezina will be held in Stoudienka and at the site on the right bank of the Berezina known as “Brilevskoïe Pole”.
