We here at the Fondation Napoléon continue to follow closely the debate regarding history and education. On The Guardian website (UK), it's the turn of British historian Simon Schama to address the subject of history and history teaching in the UK. Arguing (unsurprisingly) that history is an essential tool for understanding and exploring Britain's cultural, social and political identity, as well as the keenly debated issues of the moment, Schama puts together his defence of history as an ever relevant subject and outlines the six key topics that every child in Britain should learn.
