À la manière de Napoléon: songs from the Napoleonic epic in Valle d’Aosta, Italy

 
Italian male voice choir Coro Verrès present a CD of songs, written during the Second Empire period, which describe or explore themes from Napoleon I's stay in Verrès.
 
“…But the theme of this CD is completely different (from an exploration of the great composers of the Napoleonic period), given that the music of which we speak is not of the great 'classical' repertoire, is not the fruit of the labours of great geniuses, and is not even close, chronologically, to the Napoleonic era, but is from times which came after. All of it, however, contributes to the expression of having witnessed events, fixes them more clearly in memory…and participates in the development of the [Napoleonic] myth.”
