Atlas de l’Histoire du Consulat et de l’Empire (in French)

From napoleon.org:
Our latest book of the month is not really a new release. In fact, it was published all the way back in 1859! But thanks to the wonders of technology, this most venerable of books has been given a new lease of life as the latest addition to the Fondation Napoléon's digital library. It is, after all, not the easiest work of history to read in its physical incarnation, being of extremely large format and requiring a magnifying glass to examine any of its pages in close detail. But now you can read, discover or indeed rediscover Thiers' atlas in the comfort and convenience of your own home, simply by making your way to our digital library.

In its first edition, the Atlas de l'Histoire du Consulat et de l'Empire, well-known to any historian or Napoleonic enthusiast but more succinctly and commonly referred to as the Thiers Atlas, features fifty-two maps, ordered chronologically. Interspersed amongst these regional and national maps are also battle plans. Monochromatic and incredibly precise, these maps – drawn by Messrs Dufour and Duvotenay, two of the best cartographers during the Second Empire, and printed by the highly esteemed artist, C. Dyonnet – prove exceptionally useful tools in understanding the movements and issues at stake during the military campaigns described by Adolphe Thiers.

You will very quickly find that all the map's intricate details appear, as if by magic, in front of your eyes. Soon you will be surveying the terrain, crossing the peaks and thundering across the plains…
