From the publishers
This is an illustrated guide that provides previously unpublished information into the field artillery and uniforms of the period. The first phase of the Napoleonic Wars began when Britain, Spain and Holland declared war on France in February 1793 and continued until the peace of Amiens in March 1802. However, the peace was not destined to last and the second phase of the war continued until after June 1815 when Napoleon abdicated. The evolution of the new forms of artillery are shown in full detail for the first time to enable the reader to understand why the Duke of Richmond placed so much care and attention on the introduction of the block trail carriage and its new limber.

The use of field artillery in all its aspects is examined in great detail with particular attention to the ammunition, drills, harness, supporting equipment and the uniforms of the period. Each type of field artillery is addressed in detail and fully illustrated.
