Dancing into Battle: A Social History of the Battle of Waterloo

Nick Foulkes discusses the battle of Waterloo in the social context of the British”expatriates” settled in Brussels. The most famous ball in history, the Duchess of Richmond's ball, attended by Wellington and most of his officers was famously interupted by the news that Napoleon and his troops were on their way.
