Pietro Caporilli’s translation into Italian of Dumas’ Napoléon has recently been republished by Tullio Pironti Editore with a short but illuminating introduction by Luigi Mascilli Migliorini, one of the editors of the Rivista italiana di studi napoleonici issued by the Elba-based Centro Nazionale di Studi Napoleonici. With it pulsing ‘tambour battant’ rhythm, the book is a packed hagiography of the emperor’s anecdotes, bon mots, proclamations, letters, strategies, all fitted around the military campaigns.Napoleone
