This work, with a new preface by Philip Hawthornthwaite, is a reprint of Johnston, R.M. The Corsican: A Diary of Napoleon's Life in His Own Words, first published in New York by Houghton Miffilin Company in 1910. It is (as the title suggests) a diary of Napoleon's life in his own words. Unfortunately, this fact is not detailed by Greenhill on their website, and the impression is given that the work is recent.
