Part of a sixteen-volume series developed and written by the faculty of the United States Military Academy at West Point, The Wars of Napoleon goes through the early years of Napoleon Bonaparte's military career to the Emperor's defeat at Waterloo, offering analyses of Napoleon's military strengths and weaknesses. The book also considers the technology available to Napoleon, the tactics, logistics, strategy, and generalship by which he created the empire. There is also a discussion of the the military and political mistakes that led to Napoleon's downfall.
 
Alongside the text is a large-format full-color campaign atlas. These original maps show Napoleon's key military battles, and provide dates, unit numbers, troop deployments, and movements of opposing forces, as well as critical geographical information.
 
About the author
General Thomas E. Griess (USA Ret.), from 1969 to his retirement in 1981, was the first head of the Department of History at the West Point Military Academy.
